E.J. Phair Brewery
It’s always something special when we get to work in historical buildings. The current location of the E.J. Phair Brewery was once the home to the first Ford dealership west of the Mississippi. We — very carefully — structurally retrofitted this unreinforced masonry building in Pittsburg. We used more than 2,500 epoxy dowels to reinforce the masonry and built a completely new roof diaphragm with major support members. Extensive hand excavation and groundwater removal was required due to the existing basement that was inaccessible to traditional production excavation methods. These significant upgrades were needed to accommodate a fully operational brewing facility and tap room.
